Finished size:
28cm/11” from cast-on to bind-off edges
Yarn:
Rowan Wool Cotton (50% Merino Wool/50% Cotton; 113m [123yd]/50g): 2 balls. Color shown: SH900.
Needle(s):
4mm(US6) 16” circular needle or dpns.
Notions:
Stitch marker (m), tapestry needle
Gauge:
22 sts/30 rows = 4”/10cm in St st.
Skill Level: Intermediate.
Note: I tend to make cowls large and droopy because I love pinning them. The stitch pattern is in groups of 15 sts, so feel free to cast on less if you want a smaller circumference cowl.
Heads up: The lace pattern goes up to 16 sts for a few rounds!

    Oh, thank goodness I looked you up and saw that the pattern goes up to 16 sts for a while. I started this pattern six times because I couldn’t keep focussed on the pattern, and now that I have the hang of it, I thought The Worst when I counted out 16 sts in the repeat. I’ll keep going now, with more confidence!

    Me too! I thought I was losing my mind when I would come up with 16 stitches. Pulled it out 3 times.

    HI, I made this Cowl to wear this past winter and I love the pattern! I got to thinking that the leaf/shield design would make a cute baby blanket as well. Is there a way to change this from in-the-round to flat?

    Starting with row 13 through 25 there are 16 stitches in the pattern. How do you get the extra stitch in there?

    Noble Cowl is lovely, but my mom and I were really confused when the graph showed only 15 stitches on the even rows after the odd rows of 16. We figured out that the graph was misleading because it forgot to change these even rows to k on the 16 instead of 15.

    Hope this is right.

    This is my first time doing a lace pattern or a cowl, so though it looks really nice, I think I may have made some little mistakes because of my stitch count…
    Can anyone tell me, if I am on row 11 and somehow have 128 stitches instead of 120, should I assume that I have made some errors and should start all over again, right?
